What the check does
The preflight reads the canonical link detected on the public page. A self-canonical supports the submitted URL; a canonical pointing elsewhere suggests that another version is preferred.
How to interpret the result
Canonical tags are signals rather than absolute commands. Redirects, sitemaps, internal links, duplicate content, and search-engine selection should support the same preferred URL.
